Pina Colada Smoothie

A refreshing summertime smoothie with a healthy take on a traditional pool side "pina colada" that is digestive-friendly. Lets start with Kefir, a Turkish word which means "good feeling" is a probiotic rich food with incredible medicinal benefits including supporting our immune system. Then, through in some pineapple that contains bromelain, an enzyme that may help to treat indigestion–we are feeling good. Added bonus of coconut water to help keep us hydrated is a perfect pool side option.

  • Yields: 1 Serving


½ cup plain kefir

Zest and juice of 1 lime

½ cup chopped pineapple, fresh or frozen

1 tbsp ground flaxseeds

1 tbsp light coconut milk

½ cup coconut water

few drops of maple syrup or stevia (optional)

1 scoop of protein powder (hemp or pumpkin)


1Add the kefir, lime juice and zest, pineapple, ground flaxseeds, coconut milk and coconut water, and optional sweetener in a high speed blender

2Blend until smooth then blend in protein powder

For an extra cold smoothie freeze coconut water in an ice cube tray in advance.
