Kristy Horner, B.Sc (Pharm)
Kristy Horner’s journey began at the University of British Columbia (UBC) where she completed her undergraduate studies in cell biology and genetics. She took a year off to explore her interest in clinical psychology prior to her acceptance into the pharmacy program at UBC. After graduation, Kristy travelled abroad before starting her career in community pharmacy. Her holistic pharmacy approach stems from her additional education in natural supplements, homeopathic remedies, and customized compounding.
Her love of animals motivated Kristy to complete specialized training in veterinarian compounding through Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA). She started working at a Pharmasave location in Vancouver’s West Side. Soon, she advanced to pharmacy manager, where she was responsible for establishing a new compounding store and developing the client base. Kristy continues to be involved with UBC as an instructor in the second-year pharmacy practice lab. Additionally, she acts as a preceptor to pharmacy students during their clinical clerkships.
As a pharmacist at the Robson location of Pure Integrative Pharmacy, Kristy’s passion for integrating natural and complementary health solutions helps her patients achieve the best possible health outcomes. She believes that nutrition and supplements together can be powerful tools to boost health and improve well-being.
Kristy recently attended a seminar to focus on coaching her clients on lifestyle modification as a technique to manage their medical conditions. As well, as a compounding specialist, she creates customized medications for her human and animal clients. In her spare time Kristy enjoys yoga, cooking, and reading. She currently shares her home with her loving husband and her imperious Siberian cat, Lord Nelson.
