These foods had the highest concentrations of pesticides (and other chemicals we don’t want to be eating) when tested by the Environmental Working Group in 2015, making it our list of foods we’d be better off if we buy them as organic:

  • Apples
  • Peaches
  • Nectarines
  • Strawberries
  • Grapes
  • Celery
  • Spinach
  • Sweet Bell Peppers
  • Cucumbers
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Snap peas, imported
  • Potatoes, imported

There is also the Clean 15™, a list of the foods found by the Environmental Working Group to contain some the lowest concentrations of concerning pesticides:

  • Asparagus
  • Avocado
  • Cabbage
  • Cantaloupe
  • Cauliflower
  • Eggplant
  • Grapefruit
  • Kiwi
  • Mangoes
  • Onions
  • Papayas
  • Pineapples
  • Sweet Corn
  • Sweet Peas (frozen)
  • Sweet Potatoes
