Desiree Nielsen, B.Sc., RD
Desiree Nielsen is a registered dietitian based in Vancouver, British Columbia. A vocal advocate for holistic and integrative approaches to nutrition, focusing on digestive health, plant-centred diets and anti-inflammatory nutrition. She is the co-chair of the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Network for Dietitians of Canada and a spokesperson for natural health companies such as Bio-K+ Probiotics and Nature’s Path Organics in addition to being a featured nutrition expert on Global BC Weekend News, the Natural Health Show and AM1150. Desiree is the author of a book on anti-inflammatory nutrition, Un-Junk Your Diet, and a digestive health e-book called Banish the Bloat.
Desiree holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Food, Nutrition and Health (Dietetics) from the University of British Columbia. She completed her dietetic internship at Capital Health Authority in Edmonton (now Alberta Health Services).
At myWholeLife, Desiree is a regular contributor to both editorial content and programming such as Lunch and Learn education. Desiree consults, writes and speaks on a wide variety of topics – from genetically modified foods and food quality to eating for a healthier body and mind. She travels throughout North America motivating others to make healthier choices every day with her practical, light-hearted approach. Desiree’s work has been featured on CBC and CTV National News, Breakfast Television (Vancouver), Canada AM, Chatelaine, Redbook, Best Health magazine, Huffington Post and Mind Body Green. She is also hard at work as the editor of a new Canadian food magazine called Bread and Butter.
